When to take your child to emergency?

It is recommended to take your child to emergency when your child is experiencing a flu-like condition AND has one of the following symptoms:

Under 3 months of age with fever
Trouble breathing
Not drinking enough fluids (for several hours)
Persistent vomiting and diarrhea (in spite of
fluid intake)
Lethargy (with or without fever)
Difficulty waking up
Chronic illness
Immunodepression
Deteriorating state of health

Treating the A(H1N1) flu with Tamiflu

Patients, who have been examined by a doctor and who have been referred for the oral Tamiflu treatment, will be seen based on the severity of the condition.

The Tamiflu treatment is meant for children,
who are at risk of serious complications
who are very ill

The A(H1N1) flu screening test

No routine screening test for the A(H1N1) flu.
In accordance with the recommendations made by the Minister of Health and Social Services, the CHU Sainte-Justine...
does not conduct routine screening tests for
the A(H1N1) flu;
EXCEPT for patients who are hospitalized
or who are at risk of complications
(cystic fibrosis, immunodepression, etc.).
