Sainte-Justine Centennial and Réseau Familles d’aujourd’hui unveil Faces of Love
As part of the ongoing Sainte-Justine Centennial Celebrations, Monique Houde, chair of the Sainte-Justine Hospital Centre, Centennial President Michel Pauzé and Martyne Huot of Réseau Familles d’aujourd’hui (Families Today Network) are proud to unveil the world’s largest photomosaic of children, entitled Faces of Love (Hommage en visages).

Created by art photographer Richère David and the art direction team of Réseau Familles d'aujourd'hui, the photomosaic is made of 2,007 photos of children’s faces taken in 2006 and 2007 and assembled to represent an image of Céline Dion and her son René Charles. Céline Dion, as honorary patron of Sainte-Justine’s Grandir en santé (Growing up Healthy) campaign, enthusiastically agreed to be associated with the project, which is intended as a tribute to the children who have stayed at the university hospital and a message of hope for kids who may have to spend time there in the future.

Also featured at the unveiling was a painting of the mosaic, executed on canvas by Alexandra Hébert-Dufour, a young 13-year-old reporter for Réseau Familles d’aujourd’hui. An experienced artist despite her young age, Alexandra succeeds in conveying the emotional force of the photomosaic in her painting, which will be presented to Céline Dion and René Angélil.

“We’re deeply thankful to Martyne Huot and her team at Réseau Familles d’aujourd’hui for presenting this superb photomosaic as a centennial gift to Sainte-Justine,” said Michel Pauzé. “We’re equally proud and delighted to be unveiling an amazing work like Faces of Love as one of the special events on our centennial calendar.”

Réseau Familles d’aujourd’hui founder Martyne Huot says the photomosaic is “by far the most rewarding project I’ve ever worked on. The uniquely emotional character of each of the photos is overwhelming. You can look at this work for hours and never get tired of it.”
