General The CHU Sainte-Justine Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia Clinic provides interdisciplinary monitoring of infants needing oxygen at home. Following a consultation with the Pneumology Department of the Centre Hospitalier Mère-Enfant Ste-Justine, the need for home-care oxygen is determined and agreed upon with the attending physician and the family. Afterwards, when the medical condition of the infant is stable enough, the necessary equipment for oxygen administration will be installed at home by a specialised company or a CLSC.
Either a CLSC nurse and/or a respiratory therapist provides weekly home-care monitoring in order to ensure an improvement of the state of the patient and his/her family. Home-care oxymetry readings will be noted on a regular basis during the night, in order to determine the oxygen titration required by the patient. Medical monitoring is provided by a Pneumologist, who reviews the patient's evolution on a monthly basis at least, then decides, together with the family, the appropriate treatment.
